  • Are you an LGBTQI+ migrant?

  • Living in the North East of England?

  • Do you need a safe and weekly drop-in?

OUT and Safe North East : A Weekly Drop-In for LGBTQ+ Migrants:

Whether you are an LGBTQ+ person seeking asylum, a refugee, migrant, international student, or simply somebody with an international background, our OUT and Safe North East Project (OASNE) is for you.

OUT and Safe North East is a welcoming and inclusive weekly drop-in designed specifically for LGBTQ+ migrants living in the North East of England. Whether you're new to the area or have been here a while, this safe and supportive space is open to everyone from across the LGBTQ+ migrant community.

Held at the Pride Media Centre, each weekly session will offer a mix of activities, advice, and integration support to help you settle, connect, and thrive. It’s a chance to make new friends, share experiences, and build a supportive community in a relaxed and respectful environment.

From practical guidance and signposting to fun, social events and creative sessions, OUT and Safe North East is here to support your journey and celebrate who you are.

The drop-in will be run by two dedicated Project Workers alongside trained ReportOUT volunteers, ensuring that everyone who attends is welcomed, respected, and heard.

What to expect:

  • A safe, non-judgmental environment.

  • Free tea and coffee.

  • Weekly themed activities and events.

  • One-to-one advice and signposting.

  • Support with referrals, integration, combating loneliness, and forming community connections.

  • A chance to meet others and build lasting friendships.

If you struggle with travel costs as a person seeking asylum or an international student, we can reimburse your ticket cost if you keep your ticket receipt and present it at the drop-in.

Come as you are, no need to book, just drop in. However, if you prefer to email us in advance with any questions, or to be welcomed at reception, please contact us below. All LGBTQ+ migrants are welcome.
